  • ISO 45001: Managing your operational risks

    As an employer, it is your duty to provide your employees with a safe and healthy working environment, and it is important for you to demonstrate that your organization meets the necessary health and safety standards. By working in accordance with the ISO 45001 standard, you can take a proactive approach to reducing the risks to your employees and contributing to their well-being.  The standard also helps you to identify potential hazards and take measures to manage them. Besides that, ISO 45001 certification enables you to prove to your workforce, customers and suppliers that employee well-being is one of your top priorities and that you comply with the relevant rules and regulations.

    ISO 45001 was published in March 2018, as a replacement for OHSAS 18001. There is a three-year transition period for OHSAS 18001-certified organizations. Although ISO 45001 shares many similarities with OHSAS 18001, there have also been some changes.

  • If you currently hold OHSAS 18001 certification, you must switch to ISO 45001 before the end of the transition period, i.e. before March 2021. After that, only ISO 45001 will be valid. Our experienced auditors have performed hundreds of OHSAS 18001 audits and can support you in your transition to ISO 45001. By interviewing employees at all levels of your organization, they ensure that both the process and real-life situation are assessed and evaluated. As a result, you know where you stand. In order to make the most efficient use of your time and your investment, it is also possible to combine the ISO 45001 audit with audits in line with other standards, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
    This standard continues to provide the basic framework for fulfilling your responsibility in terms of employee health and safety.
